Michelle Hostel to Danville

Hard to leave an oasis like the hostel at Mitchell. Cleaned up the drivetrain using the workstand out front. Nachant spent his time visiting with the  staff and learning about America.

Got on the road too close to lunch time so made an immediate stop at the store. After a lunch of cheese sandwiches and fruit we got going.

A 7 mile climb was first up. The 7 mile decent we enjoyed entering Michelle we were paying back. Once over Keyes Summit the terrain was Western scenery like from High Plains Drifter. Eventually the road entered a canyon that the Walls came right to the highway. We enjoyed a descent with this canyon tight to the roadway. Too much fun to stop for a picture.

While cycling thru Picture Canyon a storm hit. Winds were too high to stay riding. Nachant and I hunkered down behind a cliff out of the wind and rain. After a short 20 minute wait we kept going.

Then I decided to take only final picture before exiti the canyon. Another gust hit knocking me and the bike over. Luckly I fell onto some smaller gravel and not large sharp rocks like most of the roadside below the rock walls.

Entering Danville about 6PM we met other cyclist from the hostel. There was a very good restaurant, grocery and a church that takes in touring cyclist. A shower, laundry and floor space to bed down. No sprinkler issues  tonight.

Total miles today about 38.
