Houston
This is our
first off day since the ride began June 2nd. The Southern Inn owner was nice
and had our rooms read by 1100.
Joyce
arrived about 1PM and we went over the retirement paperwork before heading to
the bank to get my signature notorized. Afterwards we had a nice meal at
Miller's Grill. Was a nice quiet place to talk and enjoy a meal together. The
business was done and now we could just catch up after 45 days apart. Phone and
Email lacks the connection of sitting next to each other and sharing a meal.
Tommorow we
meet Aaro Froese at 0800 and ride to Ellington. This takes us through the very
challenging Eminence area. The 70 miles will feel like much more but we have a
hostel waiting if we can make it.
I got some
small projects done on the bike with the extra time. The old Cannondale
panniers we're starting to fall apart. Joyce brought me an old set of Burleys
that had resided in the basement for decades. I moved the smaller back panniers
to the front since the vintage Burleys needed to be mounted on a rear rack. I
tried to keep the basic where things were located similiar as before.
With the
bike ready for the next 1500 miles, it was lights out.
